Smart technologies are one of the most common types of technology in today’s technology world. When this word “smart” came into our lives is not known exactly, but now we are looking at whether it is smart or not even when buying a house. Smart car systems, security systems, phones, watches, wristbands… There is now a “smart” version of everything you might come across in a normal day. Of course, there are areas where this now, standard technology is used for the benefit of society. One of them is the smart cane that will make visually impaired or blind people’s lives easier. It’s on the news…
What Features The Cane Have?
WeWalk is a smart cane designed to make life easier for the visually impaired. First of all, it comes out with three basic features.
1- The first of these features is that it can easily detect obstacles thanks to its sensors and warns the user. It easily detects possible obstacles at chest and head level (above the line controlled by a normal cane) and instantly warns the user.
2- The second important feature is that the smart cane, which works in integration with the smartphone, can easily access information such as location thanks to this connection.
3- We can say that the third important feature we will list is its integrated use with applications. WeWalk, which works in integration with many mobile applications such as Google Maps, is developing rapidly with these applications.
How is Smart Cane Used?
In the process of smart cane development, one of the areas where entrepreneurs are most concentrated is of course usefulness. The developers, who thought that a long-term charging life was necessary to provide this usefulness, preferred to use a powerful and rechargeable battery. It can also be charged very easily and quickly thanks to its USB connection.
With the Bluetooth connection, you need to provide a connection between your mobile device and the smart cane. Thus, it is possible to customize WeWalk according to your own usage pattern. You can adjust features such as ultrasonic sensor, touchpad, vibration motors as you wish via the mobile application.
You can also easily control WeWalk, which comes integrated with Amazon‘s voice assistant, Alexa, with voice commands. Although the smart cane only perceives English commands for now, it is said that Turkish commands will become perceptible in the near future. In addition, it is aimed to integrate many applications such as taxi and public transportation applications with WeWalk in the near future.
WeWalk, which continues to develop with obstacle detection mode and integration systems, has already begun to talk about itself worldwide. It continues to develop.
